MORTON have completed the signing of former Motherwell and Partick Thistle midfielder Ross Forbes until the end of the season.

Greenock gaffer Jim Duffy has been busy in the transfer market so far this month, with Grant Adam, Ross Caldwell and Peter MacDonald all signing on at Cappielow.

The Ton boss has also been linked with a shock move for former midfielder Michael Tidser but faces competition from clubs in England to land the 25-year-old.

After losing Robbie Crawford back to parent club Rangers and allowing Reece Hands to leave by mutual consent, Duffy had been on the lookout for midfield reinforcements and has now completed a swoop to bring Forbes to the club.

As part of the deal, striker Andy Barrowman has moved the other way and returned to East End Park.

The 30-year-old was one of the Pars players sacked when Dunfermline went into administration two years ago and only moved the Cappielow in the summer.

But Barrowman admits the chance to return to Fife was too good to turn down and has thanked Duffy for making the move happen.

He said: "When John Potter got the job as manager I spoke to him briefly and we thought that there was maybe something that we could do in the summer.

"Then last week Dunfermline actually contacted Morton and asked of the possibility of doing it now.

"Thankfully Jim Duffy said that it could happen because there was a possibility that I could get involved in the coaching side of it as well. It was too good an opportunity for them to not let it happen.

"They recognised that it was a good opportunity for me and I made it clear that I wanted it to happen. It took a bit of time, there was a bit of to and fro negotiation wise."
