Dumbarton manager Ian Murray is looking for his side to close the gap on Raith Rovers this weekend by ensuring they come out of their game with Cowdenbeath with a good result.

The Sons manager has added former Celtic full-back Mark Wilson to his squad and he is hoping that the experience of the player can help Dumbarton to push up the table.

"We have our eyes set on catching Raith Rovers and that is the next target that we have set ourselves," said Murray.

"We know that it can be difficult against Cowdenbeath but we don't want to allow them to close the gap on us at all.

"Like us, they are a part-time team too so in many respects we are very evenly matched. "

"We've been really pleased to get Mark on board because he is a player who can come in and give a lot of our players the benefit if his experience. Hopefully we can utilise that going forward this season because we want to finish as strongly as we can."

David van Zanten will miss the game against Cowdenbeath due to suspension but apart from that there is a full squad for Murray to pick from.

"I gave the squad the weekend off last Saturday because sometimes I think a break can be the best thing. We have quite a busy spell now - and it is a run of games that could be definitive in how we fare this season.

"We have trained well this week and the team are looking sharp.

"So we want everyone to be ready to give it their best shot over the next few weeks. We are in good shape and if we can get a result against Cowdenbeath this weekend then I think it would set us up nicely going into this period.

"I like Cowdenbeath as a team. They are a decent side and if we let them, they will cause us problems so we have to be on our guard and try to make sure that we come out with something to show for our efforts."
