DUMBARTON boss Ian Murray is delighted his side have found their form after they moved to within three points of the Championship play-off zone with a home win over Alloa.

After a frustrating start to the season, the Sons stretched their unbeaten run to four games with a 3-1 defeat of the Wasps.

Archie Campbell, Jordan Kirkpatrick and Colin Nish secured the points before Stephen Simmons netted a late consolation goal at the Bet Butler Stadium.

Murray set his side the target of being the best part-time team in the division this term and, after seeing off Alloa, they will host bottom team Cowdenbeath next Saturday.

The Sons manager said: "We were ruthless in front of goal last season and it has been the same this season.

"We know we will score goals. It is still early in the campaign but I am delighted we have a good points tally.

"This league is all over the place at the moment with everyone still settling in. That is why it is so tough. But we have hit a bit of form and must keep that going."

In League One, there was a disappointing end for Morton as they lost 2-1 to Stenhousemuir.

On-loan Aberdeen striker Declan McManus continued his fine form to put the Ton ahead at Ochilview but goals from Martin Grehan and Sean Dickson won it for the Warriors.

Jim Duffy's side had three penalty appeals waved away by whistler Alan Muir and the Greenock gaffer said: "I can't believe the ref didn't give the first penalty shout when the keeper caught Declan.

"Everyone in the ground saw it. I had a word with the referee at the end of the match, but he had a different opinion to mine."
