ALEX NEIL insists Hamilton's artificial pitch isn't giving them the edge in the Premiership this season.

Accies head into their clash with Kilmarnock tomorrow top of the table after a superb recent run that has seen them bounce back in style from their opening-day defeat to Inverness.

St Johnstone and Ross County have been beaten at New Douglas Park while Neil's side saw off St Mirren and Partick Thistle on the road and drew 2-2 with Dundee United at Tannadice last Saturday.

Killie are the only other top-flight team to play on a synthetic surface after they made the switch from grass at Rugby Park this summer. But Neil insists his side have shown they can shine on any pitch as they look to extend their unbeaten run to six matches this weekend.

He said: "I don't think that has any bearing on it whatsoever.

"The two best games we have played so far have been St Mirren away and Dundee United away. Even at Partick Thistle we played well, although we were also excellent at home against Ross County.

"If you want to read into it, the only game we have lost has been at home. We haven't lost away from home.

"The one thing I will say is that we are more used to the pitch than the opposition, which might give us a slight advantage.

"But we have shown we can play as well on grass as we can on synthetic surfaces.

"It really makes no difference to us."
