Jim Duffy hailed the perfect storm of goals against that kept Morton's promotion bid from League One firmly on track.

The Greenock side's 4-0 rout of Dunfermline at East End Park ensured they stay one point behind division pacesetters Stranraer, who also won on Saturday.

And they remain locked on the same points tally as third place Forfar who remain in the hunt thanks to their win over.

But Duffy was delighted with the win over the Pars.

Ton took control of the game and opened the scoring right on the stroke of half-time when Stefan McCluskey curled a shot beyond Ryan Scully from inside the box.

The visitors' full-backs combined to double their advantage on 50 minutes, Lee Kilday slamming high into the home net after meeting Mark Russell's low cross at the far post.

On 76 minutes, Declan McManus wrapped up a fantastic 48 hours, which he began by winning his second Scotland Under-21 cap, when he rifled an angled drive into the bottom-left corner.

And teenager Russell capped what was arguably the Greenock's men best performance of the campaign so far with a goal of the season contender in the final minute.

Duffy said: "I thought every department of the team clicked, it was a proper team performance, really excellent.

"I thought we took a bit of time to adjust in the first ten minutes but after that we were excellent. From then on in we were superb right through the team.

"Defensively we were excellent, the midfield was very creative and we were a real; threat upfront.

"You don't get it very often but we got Stranraer to win, they are a good side. But we just need to keep plugging away and that's hat we'll do.

"Every point counts from here on it and we're delighted to get all three today."
