QUEEN'S PARK gaffer Gus MacPherson has admitted his delight at snapping up former Bolton and Hamilton keeper James Evans as the Amateurs' new goalkeeping coach.
Queens will host Montrose today, having only tasted defeat against basement champions elect Peterhead in their last four outings, as MacPherson begins to work his coaching magic on the bottom tier's back markers.
And MacPherson sees Evans' arrival as a key appointment.
The QP gaffer said: "James has been helping us out recently and I am delighted that he has agreed to stay on. He has had three years working as a coach within the youth set-up at the club and this is the logical progression for James.
"It is a specialised position and he is well qualified for the role."
Looking ahead to today's meeting with the Gable Endies MacPherson said: "Our form has been improving of late, with just the one loss in the last four games, but there is no doubt Montrose will be a test of that."
