GUS MacPHERSON is delighted the hard work behind the scenes is paying off on the pitch for Queen's Park.

The Spiders continued their recent purple patch with a 2-0 win over Montrose last weekend as they moved up to second place in the table.

Next on the agenda for MacPherson's side is the visit of East Fife tomorrow afternoon as QP look to maintain their place as best of the rest behind current League Two leaders Arbroath.

And the Hampden gaffer has hailed his squad for getting the results their endeavours deserve in recent weeks.

MacPherson said: "It is good that we have been winning games and putting points on the board.

"But I have been pleased since the players came into the club.

"We put the foundations in place in pre- season and it is a credit to everyone, not just the players but the staff as well, that we are doing so well just now.

"There is development there and there is still work to be done and room for improvement.

"It is pleasing when you are winning games.

"Ultimately as a manager or a coach you are judged on your recruitment and your results.

"I am delighted with the players we have brought into the club and that has enabled us to get the results.

"It is a credit to a lot of people at the club and everyone has played their part in this run."

QP may be one of the form teams in the country but they are still well off the pace being set by Arbroath, with Allan Moore's side eight points clear at the top.

East Fife are likely to be one of the teams involved in the hunt for a play-off place this term and head for Airdrie tomorrow on the back of a 2-0 defeat to Rangers.

MacPherson said: "East Fife have got a good squad. I was at the Rangers game and there were two or three players missing that I think will come in for Saturday.

"They played a different way and I would expect that to change when they play us.

"They have got good form and have had some good results away from home, they are the only team to beat Arbroath.

"It will be a tough game for us but we gave a good account of ourselves the last time we played them.

"We can only concentrate on our games and we know that November is going to be a really tough month for us.

"The challenge will get tougher as the weeks progress but it is one we can look forward to."
