NEW Albion Rovers boss Darren Young hopes his side can rise to the occasion again as they bid to cause a second successive cup shock.

The Cliftonhill gaffer enjoyed a dream debut last weekend when he netted the winning penalty to dump rivals Airdrieonians out of the Petrofac Training Cup.

Next on the agenda is the visit of Championship outfit Livingston in the League Cup.

And Young is eager to see how his squad fare again against higher league opposition again.

The 35-year-old said: "I am looking forward to it as it will be my first home game. Livingston are two divisions above us but it is an exciting tie and we go into it on the back of a great result last week.

"We came back twice then won on penalties, which was great. It was a brilliant start for us.

"The lads told us that last season they had struggled when they went behind so it was pleasing to be able to come back twice.

"It was a good test for us playing Airdrie, who are a division above us.

"We did well last week during the 90 minutes and extra-time. Now we are going up another league when we face Livi.

"It is another step up in class. They will be sharper because they are a full-time team.

"But I am sure that we will cope and give a good account of ourselves."

After getting his managerial career off to a perfect start, Young will be looking to mastermind another cup shock alongside his assistant Sandy Clark when Livi visit Coatbridge tomorrow.

Young will have forwards Mark McGuigan and Ross McNeil available after the pair missed the Diamonds triumph last weekend.

Rovers will be among the favourites for the League Two crown this season and the boss is pleased with his squad after a busy summer.

Young said: "We have a good bunch of players now. We're happy with what we've brought in.

"Things can change, though, and we might look to bring more in. We also have the option of getting loan signings in.

"We will see how the boys do from here and if the opportunity arises to strengthen our squad we still have time left.

"Sandy knows plenty of players and managers and I know a lot so if we need to bring people in we'll know who to go to.

"We are happy with the squad right now and we enjoy working with them.

"The chairman's been great to us budget-wise.

"We signed the players we wanted and are pleased with the squad."
