DARREN YOUNG hopes Albion Rovers won't be left out in the cold again and suffer a hat-trick of League Two postponements this afternoon.

The Cliftonhill side have seen their last two fixtures fall victim to the winter weather with their top-of-the-table clash against Arbroath and the visit of East Fife have been called off.

But boss Young is confident they will be raring to go as they gear up for the trip to Montrose today.

He said: "We have gone a couple of weeks without a game now, so we are desperate to get back playing.

"We don't want to end up with a backlog of games because you would rather have the points on the board than the games in hand.

"We are where we are just now, so hopefully the Montrose game is on and we can get the three points.

"You trust the boys to be professional, to look after themselves and to go to the gym to keep their fitness levels up.

"They realise what is at stake, so hopefully we won't have any problems when we do get back playing."

Young and assistant Sandy Clark kept a close eye on title rivals Queen's Park and Arbroath as the Spiders won 2-1 at Hampden last weekend.

Rovers are just four points off the pace, and Young said: "It is tight at the top of the table and we are coming up to the business end of the season now.

"There are three of us fighting it out up there and challenging for the title.

"I was at the game last week with Sandy, and Queen's did really well.

"It is too close to call. Whoever can kick on from now until the end of the season and go on a run will have the best opportunity to go up."
