DARREN YOUNG has set his sights on top-of-the-table Arbroath after Albion saw off promotion rivals Queen's Park.

Scott Chaplain netted the only goal of the game against the Spiders to move Rovers up to second in the standings.

The Coatbridge club are just three points adrift of Allan Moore's League Two leaders after a crucial success and Young has hailed his Cliftonhill stars for their endeavours.

He said: "I can't praise the boys enough. We knew we were going to be in for a game.

"Queen's have been playing brilliantly this season and are a hard team to break down.

"It might not have been the prettiest to watch, but we got the result we came for.

"Each of the players were magnificent in their attitude to the game.

"That's us in second place and it's up to us to keep the pressure on Arbroath. There's a long way to go, but if we keep playing as I know we can we won't be far away."

While Rovers had plenty to celebrate, it was to prove a disappointing day for QP as their impressive run came to an end.

And Spiders gaffer Gus MacPherson was left to ponder what might have been on a frustrating afternoon.

He said: "It was just one of those days. We had plenty of the ball but couldn't convert. Their goal came from a mistake and they punished us for it."

Elsewhere, Clyde crashed to a 4-0 defeat to Arbroath at Gayfield, and boss Barry Ferguson said: "My players were afraid to put a tackle in. Things have got to change."
