DUMBARTON have turned down a proposal to bring their Championship clash with Hibernian forward to next Friday.

The Sons are scheduled to head to Easter Road on Saturday, October 11, for a 3pm kick-off, but club chiefs were concerned that fans would then not be able to attend Scotland's European Championship qualifer with Georgia at Ibrox at 5pm.

A plan to move the league fixture forward was put to Dumbarton by the Capital club but the request has been knocked back.

Sons chief executive Gilbert Lawrie said: "Hibs offered us the opportunity of playing the game on the Friday evening, however after consultation, we felt that the switch would not be advantageous given our part-time status.

"Hibs acknowledged our response and fully accepted our position."
