DUMBARTON will hold a public meeting next month to showcase their plans for a new 4,000- capacity stadium.

The Sons announced earlier this year that they were looking to quit their current home at the foot of Dumbarton Rock and move to a new site at Young's Farm to the west of the town.

Supporters and members of the public will get the chance to see the proposals for the stadium and the current Castle Road plot, which will be used to build 180 houses and flats.

Dumbarton have been at their current stadium, renamed the Bet Butler Stadium two years ago, since 2000 but are pressing ahead with a major move.

As well as 3,000 seats and a 1,000-capacity terrace, the project will see training facilities for community use and hospitality areas built.

A Sons spokesman said: "We have been looking for a new stadium site for a long time, and are excited that we are now finally in a position to go public with our relocation plans. We are confident that the proposals will provide firm foundations for the future of DFC.

"The new stadium will not only provide a modern, high quality sporting facility that meets our playing and training needs, but will importantly create the opportunity to generate additional non-football related income and help to put the club at the heart of the local community.

"We look forward to discussing our plans with our supporters and local residents on November 6 and 7, before submitting the planning applications early in the new year."

Meanwhile, the club have confirmed Saturday's Scottish Cup clash with Rangers is sold out.

Ally McCoist's side make the trip to the Rock for the second successive weekend after easing to a Championship victory against Ian Murray's team last time out.
