DUMBARTON are on the verge of completing a deal to sign former Partick Thistle and St Mirren midfielder Hugh Murray.
The 34-year-old brought the curtain down on his Jags career on Monday after his Firhill contract was terminated by mutual consent.
SportTimes understands his move to the Bet Butler Stadium could be completed in time for Saturday's Championship clash with Cowdenbeath.
After finding himself out of the picture at Thistle, Murray spent several weeks on loan at the Rock and impressed for Ian Murray's side as they have moved to within touching distance of the play-off zone.
Boss Murray was keen to retain the midfielder's services beyond his initial loan but he is now able to sign his namesake on a permanent basis after he became a free agent this week.
The Rock boss has already recruited defender Mark McLaughlin this month while loan stars Martin McNiff and Joe Coleman have come to the end of their deals with Annan and Kilbirnie Ladeside respectively and Owen Ronald has returned from Berwick.
