IAN MURRAY admits Dumbarton were fortunate to only lose by three as their miserable recent run continued at Easter Road.

The Sons suffered another defeat as Alan Stubbs' side eased over the line in the Capital thanks to a Dominique Malonga double after Franck Dja Djedje had opened the scoring.

Dumbarton remain seventh in the Championship standings but they are now just five points clear of Alloa and Cowdenbeath following the Wasps' win at Central Park at the weekend.

And Rock boss Murray knows they must pick up quickly if they are to avoid a nervy end to the campaign.

He said: "We never got to grips with Hibs and the result probably flatters us a wee bit because we didn't kick a ball.

"Hibs create a lot of chances. We struggled with their movement in midfield and their full-backs got very high up the park.

"I felt we lacked belief right from the start. We are on a poor run and have only taken one point out of 21.

"We face Alloa and Livingston in the next batch of games and if we lose them we will be dragged into a relegation battle."

In League One, Morton moved to within a point of leaders Stranraer with a 2-0 win over their title rivals.

Goals in either half from Declan McManus and Mark Russell earned the Ton a crucial Cappielow triumph and boss Jim Duffy said: "I am delighted with the win as it was a really tough game and both teams gave absolutely everything.

"The lads are shattered right now and I am not surprised as they put in a massive amount of effort.

"We chased all the lost causes and our defenders were terrific."
