TONY ANDREU is delighted Hamilton are back on track after a frustrating run of Premiership results.

Accies returned to winning ways with a 3-0 triumph over St Mirren on Saturday as Andreu netted his tenth goal of a stunning season.

Victory over the Buddies keeps Alex Neil's side just two points adrift of league leaders Celtic.

Andreu said: "We played well against Inverness and lost, but on Saturday we did the same again and we were more clinical and scored more goals.

"We could have scored more and that is pleasing for the team.

"It was really important because everyone won ahead of us.

"It was important to win when you see the other results.

"It was good for our confidence, too and we are back in business."

After getting their Premiership campaign back on the right road, Hamilton will switch their focus to the Scottish Cup on Saturday.

Accies make their second trip of the campaign to Firhill aiming to make it three games unbeaten against Partick Thistle this term and clinch a fifth round berth.

Neil's side were 2-1 winners in Glasgow earlier this season while the return at New Douglas Park ended 3-3.

Andreu said: "It is not a distraction because we want to go as far as we can in the cup.

"It starts with Partick, who are a really tough team.

"Already this season it has been hard to win against them but I hope we can win again.

"Our confidence is high against them, even if we didn't win the last game so hopefully we can win again."
