DUNDEE UNITED manager Jackie McNamara heaped praise on his side as they moved into top spot in the Scottish Premiership thanks to their 4-1 destruction of Dundee at Dens Park.

A goal from Mario Bilate in the first half was followed in the second by further goals from Ryan Dow, Callum Morris and Keith Watson to sink the 10-man Dark Blues, who had Thomas Konrad sent off in the 89th minute before Greg Stewart scored a consolation.

"I thought we had so many good performers today. As a team I thought we defended well and we looked a constant threat," McNamara said.

United sit top of the table but McNamara is more interested in where they finish come the end of the season.

And he reckons their 6-1 hammering by Celtic at Parkhead earlier in the season has actually helped them kick on.

He said: "To be honest, I think the setback of the Celtic game and the manner we lost that, had that not happened it might be different.

"But I'm not interested in plaudits right now. It's three points against our local rivals."
