IAIN VIGURS admits he still has to hit top gear since moving to join Motherwell.

The former Ross County man has taken time to settle in at Well but is becoming an increasingly-influential player for Stuart McCall's men.

Ahead of tomorrow's trip to Partick Thistle, the 25-year-old has revealed his determination to add goals to his game with Motherwell once again second in the SPFL Premiership.

He said: "I feel like I haven't quite found my best form yet for Motherwell and the big thing for me is to get goals.

"As a midfielder you have got to be chipping in with your fair share and so far I have a bit of work to do on that.

"It is funny but I felt like I started quite well with Motherwell but then I found I was a bit inconsistent.

"But I feel like I'm starting to settle.

"I think the fact we have made a good start to the festive card has also helped.

"Now we have Partick Thistle at Firhill and if we want to stay second we need to take three points from that.

"With the defeat in the Scottish Cup to Albion Rovers and then the heavy loss at home to Celtic, we needed to provide a response and we have done that strongly.

"In particular, to win up at Aberdeen was a huge result the way they have been going. Now we have to show the consistency to build on that and keep these levels up at Thistle tomorrow.

"Hopefully, I can contribute to another positive result for us and we can finish 2013 on a real high."

Vigurs made his senior debut for Elgin City as a tender 15-year-old and went on to enjoy four successful years with County which saw him win the First Division, the Challenge Cup and pick up a runners-up medal in the Scottish Cup final, before moving to Motherwell in the summer.

And the midfielder believes playing with Well skipper Keith Lasley has helped add an extra layer of nous to his game.

Vigurs said: "Las is just a great pro who puts in a real shift and he's also an outstanding skipper.

"He was superb against Aberdeen on Boxing Day and we will need him to be at his best again at Firhill."

In the previous meeting between the Jags and their visitors from Lanarkshire, a John Sutton strike handed Well all three points back on August 24 at Fir Park.

Vigurs would settle for a repeat tomorrow.

He said: "Partick got a good point against Inverness on Thursday and, by all accounts, were maybe unlucky not to have won.

"There was nothing in our first game with them and I think it could be another tight game."
