THE past few weeks have made for uncomfortable viewing for Iain Vigurs.

Ruled out of the Motherwell line-up through suspension then injury, his presence for the first two games of the season was sorely missed on the left side of midfield, with him instead occupying an isolated seat deep within the stands at Fir Park and Tannadice.

While the pain of missing out on the start of the SPFL Premiership campaign would have been partially eased by Well nicking a win on the opening day against St Mirren, frustration would soon take hold as defeat in Dundee would be followed up by another loss last Saturday, at Fir Park.

Vigurs did make a late cameo appearance in that 2-0 drubbing against Inverness, and despite his involvement not being enough to revive any hope of a result, the former Ross County man hopes it can herald the start of not just his season but that of last term's runners-up.

He said: "It's good to be back. The first couple of games this season have been hard to watch in the stands, you want to be out there helping the boys.

"It was difficult to be on the sidelines on Saturday and see the guys struggling with their performance and also in numbers.

"My last game was the 3-2 defeat to Stjarnan over in Iceland, but then I was suspended in the first league game before picking up an injury.

"I didn't have much if any training sessions before the Inverness game so to just get on the pitch was good, although unfortunately the result wasn't what we needed."

Despite only picking up one win in their first three games, Vigurs insists it's not time for Motherwell to start panicking just yet.

Stuart McCall's men will go to Kilmarnock tomorrow bolstered by the return of one of last term's key men, plus new loan stars Henrik Ojamaa - who also got a run out last week - and defender Mark O'Brien.

And Vigurs is sure the quality in the Well ranks will soon prevail.

He said: "We have boys coming back from injury and we've added Henrik and Mark, so you have quality throughout.

"We are not worried about anything because we have good players. Once guys like Steven Hammell and Simon Ramsden get back then we will be in better shape.

"I've heard good things about Mark. I settled in very quickly when I joined here, the boys make you very welcome.

"He seems like a nice lad so I'm sure it will be the same for him."
