HAMILTON hotshot Ali Crawford has revealed his two-goal haul against Motherwell was nothing but friendly fire.

The Lanarkshire midfielder, who was brought up in nearby Carluke, hit two out of Accies' four goals on Saturday as his Well-supporting mates watched on in horror.

Most of the crowd within Fir Park were left deadly quiet by an Accies who completely blew away their hosts - their second win over the Steelmen in a week - taking them into second in the SPFL Premiership.

Crawford also took his tally for the season to four from nine games, and the attacking midfielder revealed his latest two were all the more enjoyable in the company of friends.

"It probably makes it a bit sweeter for me knowing how most of my friends are Motherwell fans," he confessed.

"I showed that on Saturday when I lifted my top up as I had one of my mate's names on a T-shirt underneath who is a diehard Motherwell fan.

"Hopefully he was there to see it."

While most Accies fans will have been in dreamland after Saturday's result - which was their biggest victory over Motherwell for over 79 years - Crawford admits the winning margin should have been even higher.

He added: "We know we've always got goals in the team. We create numerous chances it's just a matter of whether we take them on the day or not and thankfully we did against Motherwell.

"Although it could have been more. At half-time we should have had three or four.

"We just showed how good a team we are. We like to get the ball down and pass it, not many teams in this league do the same. Some play it long."

As impressive as Hamilton's run of eight games without defeat is impressive, they face a tough task in extending that to nine when they travel to Celtic Park on Sunday.

However, Crawford insists Accies have nothing to be afraid of going to the home of the SPFL Premiership champions, even if Ronny Deila's men will be strong favourites.

The 23-year-old said: "We're a tight-knit unit and we have great morale in the dressing room. It's showing on the park.

"My aim at the start of the season was to score more goals and thankfully I'm doing that.

"We go in as the underdogs as anyone who goes to Celtic Park does. We'll go with a match plan and we'll carry it out as well as we can and hopefully get a result."
