DARREN YOUNG was frustrated Albion Rovers' good run came to an end as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat to Annan.

Rovers have been in fine form in recent weeks as they breathed fresh life into their League Two title bid and got to within touching distance of leaders Arbroath.

Despite Scott Chaplain pulling the visitors level at Galabank on Tuesday, goals from David Hopkirk and Josh Todd gave Jim Chapman's side the win.

Coatbridge boss Young said: "I was expecting better from us and we have set our standards higher than that in the last few weeks.

"We didn't play to the level we know we can so it is a case of working hard to make sure we get back to where we want to be against Elgin on Saturday.

"It is a chance for us to get it out of our system quickly and hopefully get back on track.

"We made changes to freshen things up and it just never happened for us on the night.

"We did well to come back into the game and then lost a really bad goal. We weren't good enough on the night but we could still have sneaked the win, never mind get a point, so it was disappointing to come away with nothing."

Defeat for Rovers leaves them four points adrift of Arbroath at the top of the table.

But it was a chance missed for the Cliftonhill side as the Red Lichties could only draw at Elgin.

Young said: "That doesn't make our result any more disappointing. We have just got to focus on ourselves. They have dropped a couple of points and we could have caught up with them but it is about what we do.

"We will look at what we can do better and take that into the Elgin game."
