The Buddies slumped to a 1-0 defeat in Paisley on Saturday as they failed to fire in a below-par performance that further dented their hopes of clinching a top six berth this season.

Lennon's side are seven points adrift of the sixth placed Saints heading into their McDiarmid Park meeting this weekend and he admits there was nothing encouraging to take from their Hibs no-show.

He said: "I thought it had 0-0 written all over it. Apart from Leigh Griffiths' bit of magic and [Ismael] Goncalves,' both in the first half, I can't recall either goalkeeper having to do anything else.

"I thought it had 0-0 written all over it and at least we would have then had something from the game but we go away with no points and nothing to take away performance wise.

"We had a chat after the game and we will pick it up and look at where we went wrong and we will make sure that we get it right for what is a very important game at the weekend against St Johnstone."

Despite suffering just three defeats in their last 14 games, St Mirren remain eleventh in the Scottish Premier League standings and with an ever increasing points gap to bridge if they are to claim a top half finish.

Saturday's loss was the second successive weekend they have fired blanks in front of goal and was disappointed with their poor attacking play.

He said: "We created very few opportunities and I think we only worked the goalkeeper once, which is very frustrating for us."
