St Johnstone have returned to form but manager Tommy Wright remains wary ahead of the trip to struggling St Mirren on Saturday.

The Perth side are unbeaten in four games and will be expected to build on that against the Premiership's second-bottom side whose 4-0 William Hill Scottish Cup replay defeat at Inverness on Tuesday night heaped more pressure on boss Tommy Craig.

However, Wright needs no reminding that the Paisley side's last victory came eight games ago in a 2-1 win at McDiarmid Park.

The Northern Irishman said: "It was a good month for us and we have to build on that and kick on.

"We are in touch with the top-six and we need another good month to break into it.

"That's what the performances and results have given us and we do believe we are heading in the right direction.

"But the St Mirren game is dangerous because they have beaten us this season. That takes any complacency out of it.

"It is easy to look at the table and think this is an easy three points for St Johnstone but it won't be like that.

"We have to make sure because they will be fighting.

"I know Tommy has indicated that they will be low on confidence but they have beaten us already when they were on a bad run so we have to be wary.

"The one thing we can do is look after our own performances and we have got to do that."

Wright refused to speak about Lee Croft who will be missing for the Buddies game after St Johnstone decided not to contest the two-match retrospective ban for his tackle on Ross County's Liam Boyce during the Perth side's 2-1 Scottish Cup fourth-round win on Saturday.
