Beware the knight in shining armour riding over the horizon to save Rangers from financial doom, whether it is Andrew Ellis or another figure whose name is yet to emerge.
This week’s revelation that Ellis is the man behind a poss-ible bid for the Ibrox club was welcomed by some as news that he is the saviour who will free them from the constraints of Lloyds TSB control.
The more cautious among the blue legions want to know more about Ellis and the other interested parties who form his consortium.
And it is not only the fans who will wish to subject the new man to proper scrutiny – the SFA has also tightened its ‘fit and proper person’ guidelines to ensure it is harder for the likes of Giovanni di Stefano and Angelo Massone to gain control of Scottish clubs.
