Rangers centre-half Madjid Bougherra will make a decision on his future after Algeria face Morocco next month.

The defender has a year left on his Ibrox deal and has stated he will stay after earlier appearing to suggest he would leave this summer.

Qatari club Lekhwiya, Turkish side Kayseri-spor and newly-promoted Barclays Premier League outfit Queens Park Rangers are all keen to sign the giant defender.

However, the former Charlton player insists he is only concentrating on the crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Marrakech at the start of next month, with Algeria needing to win in Morocco.

"This is not the time to talk about my transfer," he said. "The championship is completed in Scotland, but my season is not over yet.

"I have one more very important game to play – perhaps the most important of the season – in Morocco. So I shall think of nothing else until then.

"I don't talk about any transfer, at least, not until after June 4. I have another year of my contract left at Rangers and there is nothing official about any offer. It's perfectly plausible I will stay at Rangers."

Meanwhile, Sasa Papac is confident Rangers can continue to accumulate silverware next season after signing a one-year contract extension.

The 31-year-old left-back's current deal was set to expire this summer, but he has agreed a new 12-month contract to be part of the new era at Ibrox, under manager Ally McCoist – successor to Walter Smith – and owner Craig Whyte.

Papac said: "I am excited about the new season and confident we can do well because Ally has learned from the best manager in Walter.

"I have no doubt we will be ready to fight for more trophies next season."

The Bosnia international moved to Rangers at the start of the 2006/07 season and has become an integral member of the side which won a third successive SPL title this season in Smith's last campaign as boss.

Papac was one of three players brought in from FK Austria five years ago, but is the only signing made by Paul Le Guen, Smith's predecessor as boss, still plying his trade at Ibrox.

He made his 200th appearance for Rangers in the 5-1 win at Kilmarnock which secured the SPL title, his eighth major honour since moving to Ibrox.

Papac added: "It will be a pleasure to play on with Rangers, I'm so happy."

Fringe men aim to stay

El-Hadji Diouf and James Beattie hope they can play a part in Rangers' bid for four-in-a-row.

Diouf's loan deal from Blackburn Rovers has expired while Beattie was sent out on loan to Blackpool after struggling to make a breakthrough at Ibrox.

Diouf said: "We're talking right now with the club to see what will happen after this season."

Beattie said: "I wanted to do well for the fans and I'll report for training on the first day and try to get in the team."
