Niall McGinn today signed a season-long loan deal with English League One side Brentford.

The former Derry City star joined the Hoops in January, 2009, and the 23-year-old has scored six goals in 36 appearances.

He also has 12 caps for Northern Ireland.

McGinn will fly out to Norway for Brentford's pre-season training camp after completing formalities and will become boss Uwe Rosler's fifth summer signing.

Rosler said: "This is a very good signing for us. Niall wants to play at the highest level and we can help him do that.

"It has come about because of the links Mark Warburton has with Celtic and it is fantastic news for the club that we can get a Northern Ireland internationalist who is young, but is proven at the top level.

"Niall is a quick, very direct player, and has a very good work ethic.

"He is comfortable on both wings and it is important we have players like that."

Meanwhile, Hoops boss Neil Lennon will attempt to secure a work permit for Kenyan Victor Wanyama, despite the fact Lenny is in Australia.

He will make the plea via a conference call to a three-man appeal board at Hampden as Wanyama does not qualify for a permit as his nation are not one of Fifa's top 75 countries.

The 20-year-old admits he will face a sweat ahead of the result which will decide if his £1million move from Belgian club Germinal Beerschot can happen.

Wanyama said: "Celtic are one of the best clubs in the history of football. They appeal so much that offers from other clubs aren't worth speaking about."

Celtic's frozen-out Dane Morten Rasmussen, under contract until 2013, says he still has a future at Parkhead despite not having played for the Hoops since May, 2010.

He said: "If nothing happens in the transfer window I will try and show Neil Lennon I can still play."
