MORTON boss Allan Moore was pleased to book a fourth round berth as his Ton stars eased to a 5-1 win over non-league Deveronvale.
The hosts looked to be cruising through to the next round after goals from David O'Brien, Peter MacDonald and Andy Jackson handed them a 3-0 first-half lead but the Highland League side fought back on the stroke of half-time through Grant Noble, writes Chris Jack.
Strikes from Peter Weatherson and Archie Campbell completed a productive afternoon for the Cappielow strikeforce and sealed the Ton's place in tomorrow's draw.
Moore said: "We were on a hiding to nothing in this one. It took us a wee while to get going and we made heavy weather of it times, but once we started the second half I felt we dominated."
Darren McGeouch was handed a starting berth in Greenock after Fouad Bachirou broke his toe in training last week and Moore hopes the midfielder can grab his chance to showcase his talents.
He said: "With Fred now out injured, I spoke with Darren and said that it was his chance to come in and impress and hopefully he can do that over the next few games."
