Inverness Caley boss Terry Butcher was a happy man today after his side came from behind to book a lucrative William Hill Scottish Cup fifth-round home tie against Celtic.

Andrew Shinnie and Greg Tansey scored in extra time as Inverness moved into the last eight with a 3-1 replay victory at Dunfermline.

As in the first game, Andy Barrowman put the Pars in front after 40 minutes before a series of defensive errors led to Caley's equaliser after 54 minutes.

Goalkeeper Chris Smith and defenders Alex Keddie and Kevin Rutkiewicz all contrived to gift a tap-in to Jonny Hayes, who was later booked for a row with captain Richie Foran.

Shinnie, making his return from a calf injury, netted an unstoppable angled drive three minutes into the first period of extra time before Tansey added a third after 110 minutes to earn Inverness a home fifth-round tie with holders Celtic on Sunday, February 5.

The victory extended Inverness's unbeaten run to five games and left the Pars – now with one win in 20 – still chasing a first win at their East End Park home this season.

Dunfermline will now turn their attentions to their Clydesdale Bank Premier League survival fight at Kilmarnock on Saturday.

Butcher said: "All credit to Dunfermline, they were miles the better team in the first half. We were lucky it was only 1-0. We told the players they had to show a lot more and give a lot more.

"We get the gift of a goal again and Johnny Hayes taps it in. That gives us a lot of heart. I thought we could win it in normal time but we looked strong in extra time. It was a fantastic strike from Andy Shinnie and we were able to pick them off after that.

"I had a go at Richie just to get Jonny going as he was frustrating. So Richie had a go at him and Johnny had a go back. Johnny after that was excellent."
