ANDY MURRAY has been drawn to face Germany's Benjamin Becker in the first round at Wimbledon next week.

The Scot is looking to go one better than last year after suffering a painful defeat in the SW19 final to Roger Federer.

Murray was drawn in the same half as fifth seed Rafael Nadal, but he is likely to not have to play the two-time champion until the semi-finals.

Federer was pitted against Romanian Victor Hanescu in this morning's draw and is likely to meet Nadal in the quarter-finals.

The No.1 seed Novak Djokovic will play Florian Mayer while Nadal's first match will be against Belgian Steve Darcis.

Speaking before this morning's draw, Murray revealed he would be avoiding hearing who he would be up against.

"I am practicing at 10 o'clock, so that is how relevant it is to my day," said the Scot, who beat Becker last week when the pair met at the quarter-final stage of the AEGON Championships at Queen's Club. "The one thing I will be looking at when playing the first match is whether it is a left-hander or a right-hander, we will then build my weekend practices depending on when I play and what type of player I am playing against in the first round."

Tradition dictates that defending champion Federer will open play on Centre Court on Monday, meaning both Murray and Nadal will also be in action on day one.
