HENRY PYRGOS is hoping his impressive displays in Glasgow's final two games of the regulation RaboDirect Pro12 season at scrum-half have cemented the No.9 jersey for Saturday's play-off semi-final with European champions Leinster.

Warriors head to the Royal Dublin Show-grounds determined to reprise their 23-19 success of September 17, which ended a 26-game unbeaten run in Dublin by Joe Schmidt's side.

The 22-year-old came on for Scotland scrum-half Chris Cusiter in the second half of Glasgow's gutsy win in Italy against Treviso a fortnight back and then retained the jersey for the 24-3 success over Connacht.

With Saturday's success the first sampled by Lineen's men against their bogey side since October, 2009, Pyrgos says Glasgow will travel with confidence for their semi-final.

He said: "It was fantastic to get the nod over Connacht. It was a massive one for us and very much a must-win affair.

"We maybe haven't been playing as well as we could have in recent weeks, so to get a fairly clear-cut win and score a couple of tries into the bargain has given us a real boost ahead of the trip to the RDS.

"I am hoping I have done enough over the last two games to stay in, but this is all about winning as a team. The result is all that matters on Saturday."

Although Leinster will face Ulster in an all-Irish Heineken Cup final on Saturday week at Twickenham, Pyrgos is adamant the reigning European champions will not lose focus for Warriors' visit.

Pyrgos said: "For one thing, they lost their Pro12 play-off final with Munster last season and I think that will make sure they don't suffer any lack of focus at the RDS this weekend.

"They have the chance to claim a Pro12 and Heineken Cup double and cement their status as Europe's top team and that will provide massive motivation.

"On top of that, we have already beaten them on their patch in the Pro12, when we ended a long unbeaten run for them at home, so that is something they will want to sort."

But, while the candid scrum-half admitted Warriors will need to be at their best if they want to make their first-ever Pro12 play-off final, Pyrgos says Glasgow will travel with plenty of optimism.

He added: "Although we can take a lot of confidence from the win over Connacht, we are going to have to lift it another notch at the RDS.

"But look at how close we came to beating them in the second pool encounter in the Heineken Cup, when both sides were at full strength. I think that underlines the fact that if we play to our max we definitely have a chance."

Meanwhile, Warriors full-back Stuart Hogg has been recognised for his outstanding debut season by scooping the RaboDirect PRO12 Young Player of the Year award to add to his Glasgow Young Player of the Season and Players' Young Player of the Season awards.

Glasgow stars Tom Ryder, Duncan Weir and Jon Welsh have all been named in the RaboDirect PRO12 Dream Team, while the Warriors side have been made the inaugural Rhino Collision Kings in recognition of their status as the most clinical side at the breakdown.
