Rock royalty will be taking to the Glasgow catwalk in the shape of Ruby Stewart and Amber Le Bon.
The daughters of Rod Stewart and Simon Le Bon will be celebrity models at Glasgow Rocks, the glamorous centrepiece of this year's Merchant City Festival.
Ruby, the 19-year-old daughter of Rod Stewart and model Kelly Emberg, will share the runway with Amber Le Bon, 17, making her catwalk debut and following in the footsteps of supermodel mum, Yasmin Le Bon.
The high-fashion event by city designer store All Saints will take place at the Corinthian on Ingram Street during the festival's opening evening of Thursday, September 20. The trendy label will showcase its forthcoming autumn/winter 2007/08 collection.
Organisers are hoping the models' proud parents will be in the audience after Yasmin Le Bon was a special guest at the Armani event held as part of the festival in September 2004.
Amber Le Bon, who stands at 5ft 10in, is the eldest of Yasmin's three daughters with husband and Duran Duran singer Simon Le Bon.
Meanwhile, Ruby is in the middle of Rod Stewart's extended family, born during his seven-year relationship with former Calvin Klein model turned interior designer Kelly Emberg.
Having made her catwalk debut at London Fashion Week in 2005, Ruby first stepped into the limelight by performing Dancing In The Street with her father in front of 13,000 fans at Wembley Arena in 2002.
As media partners of the Merchant City Festival, the Evening Times will be first with the news of the leading bands and DJs still to be announced for Glasgow Rocks.
This year's four-day Merchant City Festival is set to be bigger and better than ever. More than 40,000 people are expected to flock to the event staged over the bank holiday weekend of September 20-23, which boasts a lively mix of theatre, music, fashion, visual art, film and comedy.
The programme will see acts from around 20 countries take to the streets, stages and venues of the city, while also giving a platform to homegrown companies such as Scottish Opera, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Salsa Celtic and local comedians Limmy, Fred MacAulay and Kevin Bridges.
Councillor Steven Purcell, chairman of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau and leader of Glasgow City Council, said: "The programme for this year's Merchant City Festival puts into sharp focus the quality and diversity of Glasgow's cultural scene."
- Tickets for Glasgow Rocks are priced £20 and available from the Merchant City Festival website www.merchantcityfestival.com or in person from the All Saints store in Ingram Street.
