Victoria Beckham's A-list pals recently threw the star a baby shower – Hollywood style.

With luxury pink-wrapped gifts from celeb pals Eva Longoria, Demi Moore and Selma Blair, Posh and her daughter – due this summer – are likely to be the most pampered mother and baby in town.

And Victoria's not alone in becoming a mum, with Emma Bunton and Holly Willoughby having just given birth.

But whether you're pre or post-birth, treat yourself to luxurious rituals or lavish your baby with beauty TLC that won't break the budget.

PREGNANT PAMPERING

The demands of a developing baby and hormonal changes can prompt a wide variety of changes.

Stretch marks are tiny tears under the skin caused by stretching but you can limit their appearance with daily perseverance, using a product such as Palmer's Massage Lotion for Stretch Marks (£5.09, Boots/Superdrug).

Prepare for complexion surprises during pregnancy, too. Known as melasma, or the mask of pregnancy, hyper-pigmentation can appear on the face in the form of pale brown spots.

Avoid excessive exposure to the sun and apply a high SPF if outdoors.

"It's not uncommon for hormonal changes to bring about unwanted changes in a woman's complexion," says Geraldine Howard, co-founder of Aromatherapy Associates.

NEW MUM MARVEL

Your baby might make you feel on top of the world but your sleep-deprived body probably doesn't feel like your own.

"Go easy on yourself. Unless you are an A-lister with trainers and a nutritionist, chances are it will take you a while to get your body back," says Tanya McKay, founder of Mama Mio skincare.

To get rid of that puffed-up feeling, put Epsom salts in a bath on alternate days.

Look for mum-centric products to boost your body such as the Mama Mio Shrink To Fit Hip & Thigh Cream (£35, www.mamamio.com) or Neal's Yard Remedies Mother and Baby range (11 Royal Exchange Square, 0141 248 4230).

Catherine de Groot from Trilogy skincare also recommends downsizing to a few key products.

"A good oil, such as our Organic Rosehip, can be applied as a moisturiser but is also a wrinkle reducer."

BABY LOVE

Skincare products should be avoided for the first month of a baby's life but as your new addition gets older, set aside their own shelf of baby-friendly products.

"Bathtime is a hugely enriching bonding experience for both baby and parent," says maternity nurse Margarita Atieh. "As your baby's skin gets tougher, you can introduce baby soaps and bath oils."

Check out Pure Beginnings Bubble Bath (£7.10, John Lewis) and Burt's Bees Baby Bee Getting Started Kit (£13.27, Boots).

For baby skincare, try Waitrose's Baby Bottom Butter (£2.54, www.waitrose.com), or L'Occitane's Organic Mom & Baby Balm (from £13, Princes Square, 0141 248 7940).
