One of the hottest gigs to hit the Barrowland in the next few weeks is from New Yorkers Vampire Weekend, and their official aftershow party takes place on Saturday February 13th in Bamboo where the band’s Chris Baio will be taking to the decks!

Vampire Weekend are quite simply one of the best bands of the noughties. Formed in 2006, they signed to XL Recordings – home of Beck, Peaches, Adele, The White Stripes and Friendly Fires – so they are in great company label wise.

The band quickly gained success with their self-titled debut, released in 2008. This critically acclaimed album spawned the massive crossover stormer A-Punk as well as classics like Oxford Comma and Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa.

New album Contra, featuring hit single Cousins, was released last month, and Barrowland should be jumping to the ban’s infectious rhythms.

Supporting bass guitarist Baio at the after-show party is the usual Saturday night line-up. In Room 1 it’s Big Al playing R’n’B and hip hop whilst Dominic Martin plays indie, rock, house and dance in the Red Room. Last and by no means least in the Lounge, Robin B plays uptempo funk, classic soul and pop.

To win a pair of tickets to the party, email your name, DOB and mobile number to heather@never.com. One winner will be picked at random and notified by email. Good luck!

Foam and clowns

After the success of the Freshers’ week foam party, the bods at The Garage thought they’d have a repeat performance. For those of you who weren’t in attendance in September here’s a recap: 1200 litres of foam falling onto you from the great heights of the Garage balcony throughout the night. I highly recommend swimwear, flat shoes, showercaps, a towel and warm woolly coat for heading home.

Sticking with The Garage, their 16th Birthday Party is on February 26th! Roll Up, Roll Up to the Garage Circus. Celebrating many moons of doing what they do best: having fun and being silly!

Join in with the celebrations and head to The Garage Circus and expect naughty clowns, balloon models, face painting, candy floss, silly games and one mammoth prize, where one lucky customer and their friend will win a trip to Las Vegas, and stay at the Circus Circus hotel!
