As you’ll no doubt be aware, due to work being carried out at Central Station, The Arches has been closed for the first two months of this year.
But the good news is that the venue reopens tomorrow – and to celebrate the first event of the decade 2ManyDJs will be performing an exclusive DJ set.
The Belgian siblings are known for their exciting mash-up of electro, disco and anything else that tickles their eardrums. Whatever they play it all comes together in a mix that has people jumping about all night long. It’s been over two years since the brothers graced the hallowed walls of The Arches and no doubt they’ll be back with a bang!
2ManyDJs consists of Belgian brothers Stephen and David Dewaele, and with a number of European sell-out tours under their belts, they have raised the roof of many a building.
After a sell-out show here at the O2 Academy last August, over 2000 music fans danced the night away. The brothers were back again in December for their biggest show to date in Scotland, as Soulwaxmas made its debut at Braehead Arena.
This was the first time Soulwax and 2ManyDJs had played a show of this size in Scotland as a standalone act and revellers were treated to an outstanding audio-visual spectacular.
Arch 2 will host one of house music’s legendary DJs, as Danny Rampling promises a set full of big room house anthems. Having tasted life in Ibiza, Danny brought the Balearic vibe to the UK in 1987 and cemented his position as one of the UK’s top DJ tastemakers.
He hosted his own Radio 1 show for eight years and founded club night Shoom, which is widely regarded as one of the most influential London clubs of the late 1980s.
He last appeared at The Arches at the STREETrave 19th birthday party, which became the most talked-about event of the year among Arches clubbers.
Support on the night will come from Colours residents Jon Mancini and Giovanni Ferri, who ensure that the tunes keep pounding out all night long.
- Grand reopening of The Arches, tomorrow, 10.30pm-3am, £24.
Three is magic Number
Tomorrow night is also a hot one at Numbers, which welcomes three of the world’s, hottest producers and DJs: Martyn, Kode 9 and Floating Points.
Martyn just recently released a mix CD for Fabric. His 3024 label is dedicated to his releases but has also featured remixes from Redshape, Flying Lotus, Zomby and 2562.
Kode 9 is one of the best DJs out there, effortlessly shifting from dread-drenched dubstep to laser synths and the tropical sounds of UK Funky. Kode 9 also runs Hyperdub, the label that gave us Burial and was recently voted label of 2009 by DJ Mag.
Floating Points’ music fuses the synth-fuelled lushness of 1980s funk with the dirt of house music and the bass of dubstep. He will play the opening set at the Sub Club, playing a rare two-hour set that will give him the chance to delve deep into his famed collection.
- Numbers @ The Sub Club, 30 Jamaica Street, tomorrow, 11pm-3am.
