It’s award season already…the Golden Globes have already passed, and may I add that Ricky Gervais pleasantly surprised me.
I’m not the biggest fan and thought it was a bit random for him to host the event, but opening up with a line commenting on the amount of cosmetic surgery done to the audience, that’s genius!
The music industry also got in on the awards act on Monday, when it was the Brit Awards nomination party in London and it’s good to see Paisley’s very own Paolo Nutini flying the flag for Scotland with two nods – for British Male Solo and Best Album, while Calvin Harris is our other Scot in the British Male Solo category. Best of luck to both of our boys!
Up for three gongs is Florence & The Machine – Best Female Solo, Best Breakthrough Artist and Best Album – and only now has her album Lungs gone to number one. six months after its release.
It’s also good to see other British artists like JLS, Alexandra Burke, Dizzee Rascal, Tinchy Stryder, Kasabian and Muse also nominated.
One lady I expect will wipe the floor in her categories is Lady GaGa, who has nods for International Female Solo, Album and Breathrough Act.
One man who’s quite excited about this year’s Brit Awards is Tinchy Stryder. “It’s great to see Dizzee Rascal nominated, I’m a big fan and have a lot of respect for him, he’ll do well”, he says. “I’m liking Florence & The Machine – she’s a nice person and I like her music a lot.”
Keep it locked into my Clyde 1 show if you want to be at the Brit awards!
Last week on In:Demand mass teen hysteria took over the show – and Bellshill Academy – when I took global teen singing sensation Justin Bieber to perform at our lucky In:Demand winner Abbie Milligan’s school.
I have never seen anything like it! Only one class won the competition so the rest of the school was literally locked up – it was a like a scene from Dawn of the Dead with all the kids’ faces pressed up against any available windows.
Justin arrived, the whole school screamed…even the ones locked up in their classrooms. He made his way to Abbie’s maths class, they went wild and Justin performed tracks from his album My World including Baby and One Time, both of which had the crowd singing along, an amazing sight!
There were a lot of screaming girls present and when I asked Justin if he was single he replied with “Yeah” in a coy manner.
So what kind of girl would he like? “Umm I like a girl who’s fun and who can make me laugh,” said a rather cool Bieber. Check out the video and pictures of my trip to school with Justin Bieber at www.clyde1.com/indemand
