SHOPPING: New face on High Street

VERSACE, Louise Grey and Henry Holland have all done it, and now another top designer is taking their clothes to the High Street.

Alice Temperley has teamed up with John Lewis to produce a collection which though not cheap, is a snip of her usual prices.

Named Somerset after her home county in the south of England, the range includes everything from pony skin slippers to wide snakeskin effect belts, studded Nappa leather handbags to animal print scarves, and beaded Indian evening gowns to sheer two tone dresses.

Many pieces have a touch of Victoriana about them, with lace, chiffon, leather and animal print all featuring.

John Lewis has said it will be, "one of the most iconic collaborations the UK has ever seen".

And with celeb fans including Pippa Middleton, who wore a Temperley dress to her sister's evening wedding party, the clothes are set to be much coveted.

Alice Temperley, who was awarded an MBE for her work, said of the range: "We have spent the last 10 years building our lines and Somerset will complement our existing collections.

"It is a very accessible product that will take our aesthetic to a wider audience."

Prices range from £29 for a scarf, £99 for a day dress to a rather eye-watering £1000 for a sheepskin coat.

Look out for the multi-million pound advertising campaign fronted by top model Lily Donaldson.
