GLASGOW'S newest shopping mall has landed more top high street names - as the number of shoppers flocking to its stores tops 300,000 a week.

The £350million Silverburn centre, which opened last October, is about to reach almost 100% occupancy with the addition of a string of new retailers.

Bosses today announced seven stores would open over the next six weeks.

Fashion retailer Zara, hip urban clothes brand Superdry and menswear stores Remus Uomo and Suits You will join retailers at the Pollok mall.

Accessories store Bags etc, Ortak - whose jewellery is modelled by former Miss Scotland Nieve Jennings, pictured right - and Past Times will follow at the end of September.

It will bring the total to more than 70 stores and 13 eateries.

The mall has also just added Zavvi, which opened at the beginning of August, to its line-up after customer research identified the need for a music and book store.

The Fuel Juice Bar has also joined the food and drink outlets.

Richard Low, director of developers Combined Property Services, said: "We are absolutely thrilled with the new additions to our line-up of stores.

"On September 18 we will see the arrival of another much requested store - the world's number one fashion retailer, Zara."

A recent poll by market researchers CACI found 45% of people named Silverburn as their favourite shopping destination, ahead of its next rival, Glasgow city centre (25.3%).

Mr Low added: "Footfall continues to grow steadily, attracting in excess of 300,000 shoppers a week.

"As the centre matures and we near 100% occupancy, Silverburn is evolving into a destination where visitors can combine shopping with leisure within an inspiring and beautiful environment."

Fuel's arrival has strengthened Silverburn's food offering, which now includes Frankie & Benny's, M&S Cafe, Prezzo, Starbucks, Yo! Sushi, Coffee Republic, O'Briens, Wagamama, Pizza Hut and Nandos.

Centre director David Pierotti said: "Shopping behaviours have changed. With leisure time at a premium, shoppers want to go to one place, park easily and be inspired by the shops and restaurants.

"We have recently introduced regular farmers markets to support local producers and give our shoppers something new to try."
