TRIBUTES today poured in for a young mum who died after plunging from a bridge.

Donna Lennox, 20, was killed when she fell around 30ft from a footbridge in her home town of Cumbernauld.

The mum-of-one was with pal Donna Newell when the accident happened in the early hours of yesterday.

Seventeen-year-old Donna, from Airdrie, is being treated for serious head injuries in Glasgow's Southern General Hospital.

Floral tributes for the mum have now been left at the scene of the tragedy, which was first reported in yesterday's Evening Times.

One note said: "Love you so much Donna. I can't believe it's you. I loved you so much. The last thing I said to you was I hope you feel OK.

"Miss you so much. I will never forget you. You will always be part of me; Emma, Susannah, Yasmeen."

Mum Donna, originally from Saltcoats in Ayrshire, was described by friends as a bubbly girl who was normally in high spirits.

However, she had suffered several personal tragedies in recent years.

Her younger sister drowned, her father John also passed away - and two of her brothers are in jail.

She had been living in Braehead Road with her partner, and toddler son Cameron.

Her mum, Cathy, had also recently bought a house nearby following the death of Donna's dad.

Police Chief Inspector Pat Mulrooney said officers were "keeping an open mind" in their investigation.

He added: "We are currently trying to discover the last movements of the two women. They were last seen by family members shortly after 8pm on Wednesday in the Kildrum area of Cumbernauld."
