MORTON co-caretaker boss Allan McManus says the Cappielow club will continue with a "business-as-usual" approach for tomorrow's trip to Inverness Caley.
An announcement had been expected yesterday on the identity of the new Morton manager, with Dundalk boss Sean Connor the surprise tip to claim the hot-seat position.
However, as revealed in yesterday's SportTimes, Ton chairman Douglas Rae has decided to delay his decision and it now looks like McManus and co-caretaker James Grady will continue in situ at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium tomorrow, McManus said: "We are pretty much in the dark about things and, as such, have adopted a business-as-usual approach ahead of the Inverness game.
"Until told differently we will just get on with things as best we can.
"All the talk in the papers has been hard to ignore, but we are professionals and we have a job to do."
McManus and Grady's cause has not been helped by an injury list that could see the Ton head north with just 11 recognised first-team players available.
Definitely out is Allan Jenkins, who has suffered medial knee ligament damage after being injured against Dundee almost a fortnight ago. The former Gretna powerhouse could now be out until Christmas.
Alex Walker and Stevie Masterton are also long-term absentees after undergoing hernia surgery, while Dominic Shimmin, Kevin Cuthbert and Neil MacFarlane are missing.
Typically, McManus remained stoical in the face of adversity as he contemplated assembling a patchwork squad for a clash with a Caley Thistle side likely to be in buoyant mood after their five-goal mauling of Ayr last weekend.
The Ton co-caretaker boss said: "The timing with all the injuries is not good, but we will just have to use the cards that are dealt us.
"The injury to Allan Jenkins against Dundee was a big blow as he is a big player for Morton, but that is just the way it has been going of late.
"Inverness is probably one of the hardest places you have to go to in the First Division and to do so with just 11 or 12 fit first-team squad players is a big ask.
"But we will go there to be positive - unless told different."
