Firefighters tackling an early morning fire in Cambuslang discovered the body of an elderly woman.
The woman lost her life as a result of the blaze this morning, Strathclyde Fire and Rescue said.
Assistant Chief Officer David Goodhew said: "I would like to express that our thoughts are with the family and friends of this lady at this time".
A police and fire service investigation is underway to establish the cause of the fire.
