Man charged in Elaine Doyle case

Police charged a man in  26 year long investigation into the death of the Greenock woman.

Strathclyde Police confirmed that a 48 year-old man has now been chraged in connection with the death of Elaine Doyle.

The man was detained in the early hours of Friday morning.

It is almost 27 years since Elaine died after a night out in Greenock.

The 16 year-old’s body was found just yards from her home in Ardgowan Street on June 2, 1986.
