MONTROSE Football Club has issued an apology to Rangers after fans of the Ibrox club were offended by comments printed in their official matchday programme.
Rangers fans were left fuming after the programme to the Links Park side’s Saturday’s Division Three clash read: “Playing their first season in Division Three, The Rangers are a newco of the now defunct Glasgow Rangers.
“Currently top of the table, they will be hoping to go on to seal the title and clinch their first silverware.”
In a statement, Rangers’ chief executive, Charles Green, said: “I have spoken to the chairman of Montrose today and he and his fellow directors have offered Rangers an unreserved apology.”
The teams met at Links Park on Saturday in a Third Division clash that ended in a 4-2 win for Rangers.
