Around 200 staff will lost their jobs when production at the factory known locally as McKellar Watt, ends in the New Year to be moved to England.

Local politicians have criticised the company for being unwilling to listen to alternatives to keep the factory in the area.

A taskforce was set up including First Minister Alex Salmond, local MP Margaret Curran and MSP John Mason, but senior management of Irish based ABP Foods failed to attend.
