World War Two Mine in Troon Harbour

POLICE evacuated homes and shops in the town following the discovery.

At around 12.35pm police were called to a report of the discovery of a possible World War Two mine at Troon Harbour.

Cottages in Harbour Road, along with the sawmill there and McCallum's Chip Shop have been evacuated as a precautionary measure.

A cordon is in place and there is no threat to public safety.
