TRAIN driver Stewart McKendrick is on track to transform his home - thanks to the Evening Times.

The 37-year-old from Rhu, near Helensburgh, was the latest winner of our exclusive IKEA Trolley Sweep competition - and he managed to scoop over £1200 worth of fabulous goodies.

Cheered on by his wife Tracey, Stewart had three minutes to grab as many items from IKEA's Market Hall as he could. Racing through the store, he managed to fill an incredible six trolleys with everything from rugs and pots and pans, to pictures and cushions.

He even managed to fit in a dash to the store's Summer Shop where he picked up a brand new patio furniture set.

Stewart's fantastic prize couldn't have come at a better time, as the couple's home suffered severe flooding six weeks ago and much of their furniture was destroyed. Stewart said: "The mains water pipe in the bathroom burst and we were flooded.

"Most of the bathroom was ruined and we need new flooring.

"When I found out I had won this competition I was delighted. We were saving up for a holiday this summer and didn't want to blow the holiday money on new things for the house."

Stewart added: "I'm over the moon because I got everything I wanted. Coincidentally, I was going to buy new garden furniture this weekend, but now I've got it for nothing."

Tracey was equally delighted with her husband's trolley dash.

She said: "He did very well and even got me a bonsai tree I had my eye on."

Stewart is the last of three winners of this prize, each of whom managed to win over a thousand pounds worth of household items.

The biggest winner, however, was Elizabeth McLachlan, from East Kilbride. Two weeks ago, Elizabeth successfully collected over £1300 worth of goodies, the largest amount of all three winners.

That amazing feat means she now collects a further £400 worth of IKEA vouchers.

On hearing the good news, Elizabeth said: "You've put such a big smile on my face. I'll use the vouchers to treat my three sons to new beds."
