THERE was no rest for these volunteers as they worked tirelessly to restore a graveyard.
THERE was no rest for these volunteers as they worked tirelessly to restore a graveyard.
Rizi Mohammed led a team of 100 helpers yesterday working with sponges and soapy water to tidy Sandymount Cemetery in Glasgow's East End.
The project, backed by the Clean Glasgow campaign, brought together people from all walks of life to tackle the vandalism that has brought the cemetery into disrepair.
Mr Mohammed, a psychotherapist who took on a similar project to clean up Cathcart Cemetery, where his father is buried, said he was surprised by the huge response.
He said: "In parts of the world, people are killing each other and here they are washing the graves together."
