LOTTERY jackpot winner Angela Kelly said she woke up worrying about her bank balance being in the red the day she discovered she had scooped £35million.

LOTTERY jackpot winner Angela Kelly said she woke up worrying about her bank balance being in the red the day she discovered she had scooped £35million.

The 40-year-old single mum from East Kilbride admitted she is still "in limbo" after becoming Britain's biggest ever lotto winner.

The former postal worker, who has now quit her job at Springburn sorting office, said an average night out before her bumper win was a £3.50 burger and a drink.

And she said she is struggling to come to terms with her new champagne lifestyle and joining Britain's rich list.

Her life has now been transformed. At the weekend she was worrying about paying the bills because of the effects of the Royal Mail strike action on her £21,000 a year pay packet. But now the world's her oyster.

She said: "Monday was just a typical day. I was at work wondering what was going to happen at the end of the month.

"It hasn't sunk in. I feel totally in limbo. I just need to sit down my son and get my thoughts together."

Angela celebrated her win with her first manicure and some new clothes from Frasers but said she had no idea how she was going to spend her millions.

However, she said she will be upgrading flight tickets for a holiday to Canada she booked before her win and is hoping to enjoy a dream trip to Hawaii.

She said: "It is somewhere I have always wanted to go. Hawaii always seemed to be one of those places I would never be able to afford."

The East Kilbride mum, whose father was also a postal worker, said she was happy with her life before her win and wasn't a regular lottery player.

The most she had ever won before was a bottle of whisky.

She admitted she is concerned about how the cash will affect her family but said her 14-year-old son is "down-to-earth and grounded" and wouldn't be swayed by it.

Angela plans to buy a bigger house but will not move out of the area because John is just about to sit his Standard Grades at St Andrews and St Brides high school.

Angela, who has a new partner, revealed she is still on good terms with her ex-husband Gerry Kelly, who also works at the Springburn office, and would be happy to give him a share of her millions.

She said: "We have always got on well. We didn't get divorced because we didn't want to cause John anymore heartache. He's over the moon for me."

Gerry Kelly said: "I sincerely wish Angela all the best on her fantastic win.

"Now she won't have to worry about money for the rest of her life."

She bought her winning Euromillion lucky dip ticket from Sainsbury's in East Kilbride.

David Robson, manager at the shop in the Kingsway retail park, said the store was beginning to get a reputation as a "lucky shop" with several decent jackpots paid out.

A Sainsbury's spokeswoman added: "We are really delighted for Angela."
