An 11-year-old boy has died following a hit and run collision in Manchester.
The accident happened in Beswick shortly after 6pm tonight.
The boy was treated at the scene by paramedics and was taken to hospital but died as a result of his injuries.
A dark coloured VW Golf was found abandoned near to the scene.
An 31-year-old man later attended a police station and he was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in custody for questioning.
A section of Albert Street in Beswick, close to the Etihad Stadium, has been cordoned off and a large police presence has been reported.
