DECLAN McKenna cannot wait to perform to a rowdy Glasgow crowd.
The English singer-songwriter will be hitting the O2 ABC’s stage later on this month as part of a UK and European tour.
The 18-year-old said: “I’ve never really had a bad gig in Glasgow, so I’ll hopefully be as up for it as the crowd will be.”
If someone hasn’t seen the Brazil hit-maker live in action before, he promises an entertaining night: “It’s essentially me falling over a few times while playing guitar and there’s loads of shiny things knocking about.”
At home on stage as well as in the studio, he added: “I think I like that playing live can be different every night. Shows can feel really different depending on me or the crowd or the room, there’s room for expression within the set.
“Being in the studio is generally really satisfying, finally putting ideas into action and watching an idea turn into something full and beautiful is kind of why I make music.”
The talented teen first gained recognition after winning Glastonbury Festival’s Emerging Talent Competition in 2015. Following this, he signed with Columbia Records in 2016 and then released debut studio album What Do You Think About The Car? in July this year.
Notching up many great gigs, Declan said: “Playing Heaven in London was a big highlight for me. It was really special to play such a brilliant place in the city I started watching and playing shows in.
“The next 12 months is gonna see a fair bit more touring, but hopefully I’ll be able to make another record. I’m trying to stay as creative as possible.”
Declan will be performing at Glasgow’s O2 ABC on Thursday, October 26. Tickets are now sold out.
