Lewis Capaldi could be the most likable person on the planet.

Standing on stage of a sold-out Glasgow Barrowlands complaining about sweating through his jumper and the fact his mum forgot to bring him a jacket, he just about confirms my suspicions.

Despite amassing a Europe-wide fan base, becoming a regular on Radio One and winning at the SSE Scottish Music Awards, he still has his feet firmly on the ground. Probably a bit too much for his mum who has to endure jokes about his genitals during the set.

Opening with most recent single Grace, Lewis kicks off the show with a bit of energy before launching into his back catalogue of admittedly depressing tracks including Lost On You, Fade, Tough and Rush, which sees support act Nina Nesbitt take to the stage for a duet.

As was the case during his previous sold-out Glasgow show at the ABC, fans new and old are there to have a good time.

The crowd is a mix of couples, excitable teenagers and those looking to get steaming drunk and reminisce over the person who broke their heart.

As Lewis dives into his unreleased material, there is a chatter from the crowd but the strength of music is unignorable.

So far, he’s put out nine songs. With each release it seems the mania surrounding him grows to the point where Lewis can’t believe where he is, having attended gigs at the iconic venue.

As final song Bruises begins, audience members struggle to get on their friend’s shoulders.

Undoubtedly Lewis’ most famous song, it still continues to demonstrate the best of the singer’s abilities - heart wrenching vocals and emotionally raw lyrics.

Verdict: *****
