INNOVATIVE Scots restaurant chain Six by Nico has revealed its upcoming autumn menu concept.

“A Taste of Sicily” will transport diners to the Mediterranean island, incorporating home flavours from some the most richly-textured culinary heritage on the world.

Chef Nico Simeone has created a tantalizing menu of a trip “that showcases many of the delicacies for which Sicily is celebrated,” said staff.

The new six-course tasting menu includes arancini tricolore (spinach and gorgonzola, red pepper and smoked mozzarella and cacio e pepe), melanzana (slow-cooked aubergine, homemade ricotta and trapanese pesto), bistecca di tonno seared (tuna,, puttanesca, caper and raisin purée), pappardelle ragu (saffron pappardelle, ox cheek ragù, parmigiano reggiano and pork filetto di maiale) and pork fillet and sausage, made with orange and pistachio dressing and braised fennel.

Diners at the restaurant will end their food experience with a Sicilian limone, made with Sicilian lemon tart, whipped creme fraiche and candied rosemary.

Chef Nico Simone said: “From cannoli to arancini, Sicilian food is world-famous, but many will be very surprised by just how varied and diverse Sicily’s cuisine is. It’s a veritable melting pot of flavour.

“While much of it is clearly Italian - there’s plenty of pastas, olive oils, wines and seafood - there are some commonly-used ingredients that clearly stand out. This is what our guests at Six by Nico will discover on our new menu.”

Diners can book a table now for “Sicily.”

The menu will be priced from £28 per person in Glasgow and Edinburgh with the option to enjoy a wine and specialist drinks pairing for an additional £25 at each restaurant.

As ever, there is a vegetarian alternative available for every course.
